- General News
Eilidh Austin and Abby Robinson have scooped the January 2026 Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) and SWPL2 Player of the Month awards.
In the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League (SPWPL), Eilidh Austin has been in impressive form as Rangers continue their strong run of results. Leanne Crichton’s side kicked off their league matches in January with a 2-1 win against the reigning SPWPL champions Hibernian. In the match, Austin contributed with an excellent assist to open the scoring, with the full-back proving a constant attacking threat down the Rangers right-hand side. This imposing performance also earned her a well-deserved spot in the SWPL Team of the Week.
The full-back continued to show her attacking skills in the match against Glasgow City at Petershill Park. Rangers fought hard to equalise late in the game, with Austin’s contribution down the right wing proving pivotal once again to extend the side’s unbeaten streak in the SPWPL to eight matches.
In the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League 2 (SPWPL2), Abby Robinson has been a key contributor to Kilmarnock’s success this season. Kilmarnock sit top of the SPWPL2, having not lost a single game so far through 17 matches. Robinson has been in fine goalscoring form from midfield and is currently the second highest scorer in the league on 14 goals.
Robinson carried her impressive scoring form into January, kicking off the month with a hat-trick against Stirling University, putting in a performance that seen the Kilmarnock captain earn a spot in the SWPL Team of the Week. The midfielder was once again a crucial component for Kilmarnock as they picked up a crucial three points in a 1-0 win over Spartans to increase their gap at the top-of-the-table to 13 points.
The other nominees for the January 2026 SWPL Player of the Month award, supported by Park’s Motor Group, were Nicole Kozlova (Glasgow City), Georgia Timms (Heart of Midlothian), and Claire Walsh (Celtic), and for the SWPL2 award were Taylor McGlashan (Kilmarnock), Jess Murphy (Livingston), and Summer Thomson (Queen’s Park).
