Forrest and Aitchison win SWPL Player of the Month Awards for August

Lisa Forrest and Holly Aitchison have picked up the August 2026 Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) Player of the Month awards.

In the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League (SPWPL), Lisa Forrest has been in impressive form, providing a series of influential performances for City in the first month of the 2026/27 campaign.

The 20-year-old launched her scoring account for the season on the opening day against Celtic, giving City an early lead at Petershill Park.

Forrest was also instrumental in City’s 3-0 victory away to Aberdeen on matchday two, providing an early assist for Kelly Brady’s opening goal before setting up Emily Gray for City’s second of the day.

The versatile forward then saved her most prolific performance of the month for City’s final league game of August, scoring a hat-trick in the 7-0 victory over newly promoted Spartans. Forrest finished the match with five shots on target and was named Star Player in the SWPL Team of the Week.

In SPWPL2, Holly Aitchison has been recognised as Player of the Month for August 2026, following an excellent start to the season with Boroughmuir Thistle.

Aitchison was on target in the Edinburgh side’s 4-1 victory against Gartcairn on matchday one before netting the only goal in the 1-0 victory over Queen’s Park in matchday two. Aitchison scored the decisive goal against the Spiders from the penalty spot, maintaining Boroughmuir’s perfect start to the campaign.

The forward was again among the key performers as Boroughmuir continued their winning streak, scoring the second goal of the game as they defeated Kilmarnock 3-0 on 30 August to finish the month with three wins from three matches in the SPWPL2.

Aitchison’s form has been key to Boroughmuir’s table-topping start whilst the forward is also joint-top of the goalscorers’ standings in the division too.

The other nominees for the August 2026 SWPL Player of the Month award were Kelly Clark (Celtic), Darcie Miller (Montrose), and Katie Wilkinson (Rangers), and for the SWPL2 award were Josephine Giard (Hamilton Academical), Emma Lawson (Falkirk), and Skye Stout (Kilmarnock).
