Sofia Määttä and Ellie Kane have scooped October’s Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) Player of the Month awards, supported by Park’s Motor Group.

In the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League (SPWPL), Sofia Määttä has been a key player in ensuring Glasgow City maintained their unbeaten status through October, with a goal and an assist in the league-leaders’ important 2-1 away win, over Celtic.

The forward helped secure her side their spot in the quarter-finals of the Sky Sports Cup, adding a brace and an assist to her tally in Leanne Ross’ side’s 5-0 victory over Hamilton Academical. The Finnish international also completed 100% of her dribbles and 78% of her passes to round out an impressive performance for the away side.

In the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League 2 (SPWPL2), Queen’s Park recorded a comprehensive 6-0 victory at home to the University of Stirling, in their sole league fixture in October. Ellie Kane was particularly impressive in this match with 100% successful dribbles, 86% pass accuracy and a goal to her name.

Kane was also pivotal in seeing her side into the Sky Sports Cup quarter-finals, as the Spiders defeated fellow SPWPL 2 side Gartcairn 3-1 at MTC Park. The Queen’s Park striker scored twice, including a spectacular strike from the halfway line to secure their spot as the only SPWPL 2 side in the next round. This is Ellie’s fifth Player of the Month award, having won 4 from 5 nominations in season 2023/24.

The other nominees for the October 2025 SWPL Player of the Month award, supported by Park’s Motor Group were Eilidh Adams (Hibernian), Carly Johns (Hearts) and Katie Wilkinson (Rangers), and for the SWPL 2 award were Eilidh Martin (Kilmarnock), Elvie McLean (St Johnstone) and Leah Sidey (Boroughmuir Thistle).
