Maria McAneny wins February SWPL Goal of the Month, supported by Park’s Motor Group

Maria McAneny has been voted by the public as February’s SWPL Goal of the Month winner, supported by Park’s Motor Group, for her looped effort in Celtic’s hard-fought 2-2 draw with Glasgow City.

McAneny had only one thought in her mind when she collected the ball just outside the box and boldly looped the ball over the goalkeeper. The Celtic academy graduate’s equalising goal in the match brought Celtic back into the match and ultimately helped her team earn what could be a crucial point away from home against their fellow SWPL title rivals.

Her goal stood out amongst some strong competition in Rebecca Galbraith (Boroughmuir Thistle), Nicole Kozlova (Glasgow City), and Georgie Robb (Gartcairn) in the February 2025 edition as voted by the public.
