Queen’s Park secure ScottishPower Women’s Premier League 2 title

Queen’s Park WFC clinched the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League 2 title with five games to spare. Craig Joyce’s side came into the weekend 15 points ahead of Kilmarnock with 18 points available.

With Kilmarnock’s earlier loss to Glasgow Women, the door was open for Queen’s Park to secure the league title with a draw or victory at home to Stirling University. After conceding early, the Spiders eventually dominated as they scored six goals to give themselves a comfortable 6-1 win at New Tinto Park.

The battle to finish as runners-up and the only promotion play-off spot remains very much alive as Kilmarnock are now six points above Livingston with a far superior goal difference.

Queen’s Park will be presented with the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League 2 trophy at their final home game of the season on Sunday 12th May against Boroughmuir Thistle.
