SWPL Broadcast Matches Confirmed for April

The Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) can confirm the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League (SPWPL) matches selected for broadcast in April. The games selected across Sky Sports, BBC ALBA and BBC Scotland are as follows:

Sky Sports will head to Petershill Park on 29^th April to live broadcast Glasgow City v Celtic. The first post-split meeting between the Glasgow sides resulted in both teams leaving New Douglas Park with a point, as they played out a highly competitive 1-1 draw.  Glasgow City’s late equaliser in this match extended their unbeaten streak in the league to an impressive 20 matches.

BBC ALBA have selected three matches across April, kicking the month off with Glasgow City v Hibernian on 1^st April. There has been nothing to separate these two sides so far in their SPWPL meetings, with both encounters ending in a point a piece.

On Easter Monday, the BBC ALBA cameras will showcase the Old Firm clash as Celtic host Rangers at New Douglas Park. Rangers have been victorious in both meetings in the SPWPL so far this season, most recently in an entertaining 3-2 win under the lights at Ibrox.

Attention will then turn to Partick Thistle v Glasgow City, also broadcast live on BBC ALBA. The home side secured their top six status in dramatic fashion with a last-minute winner over Hamilton Academical. The Jags will be seeking redemption as City began their post-split campaign by notching a convincing 4-0 victory over their Glasgow rivals.

The BBC Scotland cameras will showcase their first game of the SPWPL season on Easter Sunday, as Hearts travel to Petershill Park to take on Glasgow City. Current league-leaders Glasgow City have had the better of Eva Olid’s side on the two occasions where they’ve met to date this season. However, Hearts, who are currently Glasgow City’s closest competitors, sitting second in the league table, continue to close the gap at the top. This match could be vital in determining the direction of the trophy come the final day of the season.

Traditionally, matches have been incredibly close post-split and we expect that to be the case again this season as teams compete at both ends of the table for the title and to avoid relegation.
