SWPL Statement – 20th August 2024

SWPL 2 – Gartcairn v St Johnstone – 11/08/2024

At a disciplinary hearing today (Tuesday 20th August 2024) the panel charged St Johnstone for playing a trialist without notification to the league in their SWPL 2 match against Gartcairn at MTC Park on Sunday 11th August, 2024.

Three trialists played, entering the pitch at 85 minutes, and the game ended in a 2-1 win for Gartcairn.

The Tribunal imposed the following sanctions:

(i) The Club was reprimanded and warned as to future conduct;

(ii) St Johnstone’s SWPL 2 match v Gartcairn will be recorded as a 3-0 victory for Gartcairn;

(iii) A fine of £500 which is suspended until the end of the 2025/26 season pending any further breaches of SWPL Player Regulations.

The SWPL acknowledges St Johnstone’s right to appeal and will make no further comment.
