Team of the Week from ScottishPower Women’s Premier League games played on 8th February.
————————
Goalkeeper – Chloe Gibney (Livingston)
Livi nearly pulled off a shock result in the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League 2, leading against top four side Spartans with an hour played. In the end, the Ainslie Park side came away 2-1 winners but it’s a result that will give them confidence of avoiding any danger of relegation as they remain ten points clear of trouble. In goals, Gibney put in a great performance with nine saves, the second highest of any goalkeeper in the league this round, conceding two goals from an expected goals conceded of 3.6. Livingston face Gartcairn next, with hope of a top-six finish dashed by this narrow defeat.

Defender – Jenna Ferguson (Partick Thistle)
The Jags have given themselves a huge shot at a top-six finish in the Scottish Power Women’s Premier League with one game left before the split. By defeating Montrose 2-1 on Sunday, Partick Thistle are now a point behind their opponents and face bottom of the table Hamilton Accies next. In contrast, Montrose face title chasing Rangers who know every point is vital and will be strong favourites. Ferguson is included for her defensive contribution, winning 78% of her duels, 100% of her aerial duels, making 10 interceptions, and with a solid 76% passing accuracy. She’ll hope to earn a clean sheet on Sunday and help her side into the top-six after missing out to Motherwell last season.
Defender – Taylor McGlashan (Kilmarnock)
Having been nominated for the January Player of the Month, McGlashan continued her fine form as she helped Kilmarnock to a 4-0 win on Sunday. The defender played her part as they kept a clean sheet for a fifth consecutive match, as well as grabbing her third goal in as many appearances with a late header. Killie now know their top-six opposition as they look to clinch the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League 2 title, currently 13 points clear with 11 games remaining.
Defender – Kelly Clark (Celtic)
Celtic remain five points behind Glasgow City in the Scottish Power Women’s Premier League title race after a 1-1 draw on Sunday. Captain Clark lead the team by example, making a vital block at 1-0 down to keep Celtic in the match and potentially in the battle for the league trophy. She also boasted an 84% passing accuracy, won 64% of her duels, made eight interceptions, and 12 recoveries. Grant Scott’s side face Heart of Midlothian next in the league with a chance to overtake the Edinburgh side in the table.

Midfielder – Natalia Wrobel (Glasgow City)
Glasgow City’s lead at the top of the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League was cut down to three points on Sunday, but they remain the only side undefeated domestically this season. Wrobel makes the team for her all round midfield display, having two shots, 91% passing accuracy, three crosses, 63% duels won, and having more recoveries compared to losses. City face Motherwell in the final game before the split as Leanne Ross’ side look to win the league for the first time since 2022/23.
Midfielder – Jenna Slattery (Heart of Midlothian)
Hearts are now just three points from the top of the table after their comfortable 6-0 win at home to Aberdeen. Slattery was instrumental on Sunday, scoring twice, providing an assist, as well as winning a penalty for her side. She also had a further five shots (five on target in the match), 63% passing accuracy, 100% dribbles successful, and won 90% of her duels. An outstanding performance which she’ll hope to replicate when they face Celtic on the 22nd of February.
Midfielder – Izzy Young (Spartans)
Spartans kept pace with the sides above them on Sunday, eventually defeating Livingston 2-1. Young was a key reason for their win, getting the equaliser before assisting Emily Cadell for the winner. The youngster had a further two shots on target, a 62% passing accuracy rate, 12 crosses, 15 dribbles (73% successful) and won the majority of her duels. The Edinburgh side remain fourth, two points behind Queen’s Park and Boroughmuir Thistle but now seven clear of Dundee United.
Midfielder – Kirsty Morrison (Hibernian)
Hibs brushed aside the disappointment of their Sky Sports Cup Semi-Final defeat to see off Motherwell on Sunday, ending their opponents dreams of a top-six finish in the process. Morrison is included for scoring and providing an assist in their 2-0 win. She also had a further three shots, 86% passing accuracy, five crosses, 60% dribbling successful, and only suffering seven losses of the ball in the full match. The Hibees travel away to Aberdeen next in the league.

Forward & Star Player – Summer Thomson (Queen’s Park)
Another player nominated for the January Player of the Month, Thomson is making her case already for back-to-back inclusions. The winger secured her hat-trick within minutes of the restart from an xG of just 0.81, also making it four consecutive games which she has scored. She had a further three shots as well as boasting a 100% dribbling success rate. The Spiders remain second in the league on their head-to-head record with Boroughmuir Thistle, but 13 points adrift of Kilmarnock.
Forward – Ami Robertson (Boroughmuir Thistle)
East Fife couldn’t make it back-to-back victories in the league, suffering a 7-0 loss to Boroughmuir Thistle on Sunday. Robertson was absolutely clinical, scoring four goals from seven shots and an xG of just 0.69. She also had a solid 65% passing accuracy rate and six crosses, though Andy Enwood will be most pleased with her controibution to the scoreline. Thistle face Dundee United next as they look to remain within the promotion play-off spots.
Forward – Katie Wilkinson (Rangers)
A number of Rangers players could have made the team this week following their 11-0 win away to Hamilton Accies. We’ve gone with a familiar face with Wilkinson playing the full match and providing both two goals and two assists. The quality of both her goals, a fine lob over the ‘keeper from just inside the box and a stunning free-kick, are a reminder of the quality she brings to her club and the league with 21 goals from 17 games. She also had a further six shots, a 79% passing accuracy rate, and a 67% dribbling success rate. Rangers face Montrose next before the split, now five points behind leaders Glasgow City.
