Team of the Week from ScottishPower Women’s Premier League games played on 17th August.

————————

Goalkeeper – Lisa Rodgers (Celtic)

It was a winning start to the new season for Celtic, and they can thank Lisa Rodgers for the three points on the road. Making five saves against Hearts, the young stopper was only denied a clean sheet by a late Georgia Timms penalty, which found the bottom corner. There was a minor wobble that nearly resulted in a goal, but the vital saves Rodgers made merit her inclusion.

Defender – Amy Forbes (Boroughmuir Thistle)

The start of the season couldn’t get much better for Forbes, earning a clean sheet as well as getting a goal and an assist. The Boroughmuir defender was solid at the back with 72% of duels won, 75% of aerial duels won, and six interceptions. On top of that, she was accurate with her passing and was a threat from corners. After finishing third last season, Andy Enwood will hope his side can climb even higher this season.

Defender – Gracie Robertson (Gartcairn)

Gartcairn were made to work all the way to earn an opening day victory against newly promoted East Fife. The teams last met in the 2022/23 season, a campaign in which Gartcairn finished as runners-up and East Fife finished bottom. Right-back Robertson earns her place with the goal to give her side a 2-1 lead, as well as a solid performance at the back. She had a 74% passing accuracy and seven recoveries.

Defender – Nicola Jameison (Dundee United)

Dundee United came out on top against Queen’s Park as the two relegated sides from last season met on the opening day in ScottishPower Women’s Premier League 2. Jameison won’t score many better goals in her career, as the defender used her strength to win the ball before firing it into the net from distance. Alongside a goal, she had a 64% passing accuracy, won 60% of her duels, and made four interceptions.

Midfielder – Rosie Livingstone (Hibernian)

The Hibees got their title defence off to the best possible start in the ScottshPower Women’s Premier League, defeating Aberdeen 5-1 at home. Both Livingstone and Kathleen McGovern got braces for Hibs, but Livingstone edges into the team. She was a constant threat for 76 minutes played, having five shots and four on target. Combined with 70% passing accuracy and 86% successful dribbles, it was a fine afternoon for the young midfielder.

Midfielder – Erin Rennie (Partick Thistle)

It was a debut to remember for Erin Rennie as she scored to give the Jags a late win over Hamilton Academical. After denying Accies at the other end, Partick Thistle and Rennie went on the break, and she showed composure to find the net with one of the final actions of the match. The new midfielder had five shots in the game and 88% passing accuracy, as well as winning the majority of her duels.

Midfielder – Abby Robinson (Kilmarnock)

Robinson continued her fine form from the end of the last season into 2025/26, scoring a brace in a comprehensive 6-2 win at home to St Johnstone. The second goal was a typical Robinson finish, cutting inside the box before curling the ball over the ‘keeper. With six shots, 68% passing accuracy, and 67% crossing accuracy, Jim Chapman will hope one of Kilmarnock’s star players can maintain their form and help their ScottishPower Women’s Premier League 2 title challenge.

Midfielder – Katie Lockwood (Glasgow City)

It was a strong start to the season for Glasgow City and Lockwood, a comfortable 3-0 win over Motherwell at home. The attacking midfielder got a goal and an assist, as well as threatening further with a total of four shots throughout the match. With 70% of her total actions successful in the game, Lockwood looks to be cementing herself as a potentially vital part of the City side.

Forward & Star Player – Katie Wilkinson (Rangers)

Last season’s top goalscorer showed no signs of giving up her title in 2025/26, scoring a hat-trick on the opening day in their 6-1 away win over Montrose. The forward showed her versatility with her goals, scoring a lovely free-kick, coolly slotting home from the penalty spot, and glancing a header past Lauren Perry. With an impressive nine shots and six on target, it seems Wilkinson will continue to be a nightmare for defenders.

Forward – Natie Bandura (Spartans)

A potential future partner for Wilkinson is Spartans forward Natalie Bandura, who is on a season-long loan from Rangers. She made it a debut to remember by helping Jack Beesley’s side to a 3-0 away win against Stirling University. After the disappointment of relegation last season, the Edinburgh team will be hoping for an immediate return to the top-flight and more goals from Bandura.

Forward – Rachel Howie (St Johnstone)

It was a disappointing start to the season for the Saints, falling to a 6-2 defeat to Kilmarnock. Josh Henderson will be looking for his side to be much more solid throughout the campaign, but will be pleased that they scored twice through Howie. The striker scored from the spot before a lovely half-volley just a minute later, giving his side a slice of hope. An in-form forward at this level will go a long way to helping St Johnstone to success this season.
