BBC ALBA have selected the Edinburgh derby in West Lothian to kick-off this exciting month in the SWPL. The Jambos will be looking to continue their strong start to the post-split phase which has included a 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture at Meadowbank, while the Hibees will be aiming to regain the derby bragging rights with another away victory over their local rivals this season.
Meanwhile in the west coast, BBC Sport Scotland have also selected the Petershill clash between Glasgow City and Celtic on the 4th of May. This will be the fifth meeting of these two Glasgow sides this Season, each of whom have won once each in 90 minutes so far. Celtic also progressed to the Sky Sports Cup semi-finals at the expense of City via a penalty shoot-out so this is shaping up to be another closely fought encounter.
Fiona McIntyre, SWPL Managing Director, said: “We’re pleased to confirm these further live games at this such exciting time in the Season. This season has been incredibly competitive at both ends of the table and the partnerships with our broadcast partners are vital as we seek to increase the visibility of women’s football in Scotland. These latest selections mean there will have been over 50 ScottishPower Women’s Premier League and Sky Sports Cup matches broadcast live for fans to enjoy this Season, and they don’t get much more crucial than these two derbies as we enter the closing stages of the Season With all to play for, we encourage fans to get to a match or tune in if you can’t be there in person.”
