Team of the Week from ScottishPower Women’s Premier League games played on Sunday 19th January.
————————
Goalkeeper – Ellie Currie (Kilmarnock)
Ellie Currie has been named in the team of the week for the second week running and deservedly so, making a string of saves during the match to help her side to the three points in a tight victory over Gartcairn. The Ayrshire side have now tightened their grip on second place in SWPL 2 as they continued their perfect start to 2025, shipping only 1 goal in the process thanks in large part to Ellie.

Defender – Lauren Doran-Barr (Hibernian)
Deployed at wing back for this match, Doran-Barr was a constant attacking threat down the right-hand side putting plenty of crosses in the box which led to her assisting the third and final goal in the semi-final. Her defensive contributions were similarly impressive as she was dominant in her duels and helped the Hibees to a clean sheet and the Sky Sports Cup Final.
Defender – Jessica Husband (Heart of Midlothian)
The young defender was excellent at both ends of the pitch in this convincing victory over Montrose. Her marauding runs forward and opportunism led to her scoring the opening goal of the game from just outside the box. This coupled with her defensive solidity led to this deserved inclusion in the team of the week.
Defender – Holly Aitchison (Boroughmuir Thistle)
Aitchison began this game positioned more defensively than in recent weeks, but this certainly didn’t blunt her attacking edge. Her overlapping runs forward and crosses into the box caused Ayr United problems throughout and is what led to her assisting the third goal in this match. Her defensive input was crucial also in helping Boroughmuir to another clean sheet.

Midfielder – Chloe Muir (Hamilton Academical)
The recent addition of Chloe Muir in the January transfer window has already proved successful. In an excellent introduction to her new side, she contributed a brace on her first start for the club and helped Accies to a further three points, strengthening their grip on top spot in SWPL 2. She provided a consistent threat to Livingston down the right wing, particularly when cutting in on her left foot as she did for her two goals.
Midfielder – Olivia McLoughlin (Rangers)
The English youth international continued her fine form this season with a battling Player of the Match performance in the engine room against a determined Celtic side in the derby. Her defensive solidity and grit were key to Rangers’ success in the semi-final and helped provide a base to allow the team to eventually secure their place in the Sky Sports Cup Final.
Midfielder & Star Player – Ciara Grant (Hibernian)
Ciara Grant is this week’s deserved Team of the Week star player, adding to her Player of the Match award from the weekend’s semi-final victory. Her late entries into the box from midfield caused havoc in the Aberdeen penalty area and led to her two goals in the match. This was an impressive display from the Irish midfielder, contributing the opening and closing goals in the match which were crucial to the Leith side reaching the Sky Sports Cup Final.
Midfielder – Lucie Burns (Kilmarnock)
Lucie Burns was at her tricky best against Gartcairn, turning defenders with her electric pace and skills as she proved a constant thorn in the side of Gartcairn’s defence. Her two goals were crucial to Kilmarnock gaining the three points in the match and were impressive in themselves, lobbing the goalkeeper on both occasions. This continues her form of impressive goalscoring this season as she moves onto nine goals and third in the SWPL 2 goalscoring charts.

Forward – Rebecca Galbraith (Boroughmuir Thistle)
Rebecca Galbraith nearly doubled her tally for the season with her brace in this match as she helped Boroughmuir climb to third in SWPL 2. She characterised what was a dominant display for the Meadowbank side, winning the majority of her duels and linking up play successfully throughout.
Forward – Bayley Hutchison (Heart of Midlothian)
Another hat-trick this season for Hutchison as she climbs to double figures for the season and helped Hearts to a dominant victory over Montrose. She imposingly used her strength to great effect throughout the game, holding the ball up on a number of occasions before turning defenders with aplomb. She also contributed an assist in the match for Jessica Husband’s opening goal and was a very close second to being named this week’s star player.
Forward – Josephine Giard (Hamilton Academical)
Josi Giard extended her lead at the top of the SWPL 2 goalscoring charts and helped Hamilton extend their lead at the top of the league with another brace against Livingston. The German forward, as always, proved tricky to contain but she’ll do well to score a better goal than her second in this match, curling one into the postage stamp from a tight angle.
