Goalkeeper – Megan Sidey (St Johnstone)

St Johnstone pulled off another shock in the Sky Sports Cup, winning 4-3 against SWPL opponents away from home. With both The Saints and Aberdeen losing their opening games of the season, three points would be massive for either side’s hopes of progressing in the competition. In the end, St Johnstone got a historic win at the Balmoral Stadium, with Sidey playing a huge part. The ‘keeper conceded three goals, but made eight saves, including one-on-one chances that would certainly have been scored otherwise. St Johnstone will hope for another shock tonight (20:00 KO) when they host SWPL side Montrose who are yet to be defeated.

Defender – Georgia Carter (Montrose)

Talking of the Mighty Mo, Carter was the definition of a super sub on Sunday. She was one of four substitutes who came on after 74 minutes, with Montrose scoring three goals afterwards to defeat Falkirk 5-0. Carter helped to ensure her side earned a clean sheet by winning 100% of her duels, as well as providing two assists in just 18 minutes played. Craig Feroz’s side will be guaranteed at least a place in the knockout play-offs with a draw or win against St Johnstone tonight (20:00 KO).

Defender – Lucy Stevenson (Dundee United)

United fell to a 2-1 loss against Kilmarnock in the Sky Sports Cup, but remain in the top-six places for now on goal difference. Stevenson earns her place with an impressive performance which included the highest number of duels, the highest number of shots blocked, the highest number of progressive passes, and the third highest number of interceptions of any player this round. The Tangerines host Aberdeen tonight (19:30 KO) at Foundation Park, looking to hand the Dons their third straight defeat and potentially knock them out of the cup.

Defender – Demi Taylor (Montrose)

Its back-to-back inclusions for Taylor in the Team of the Week, and a defensive double for Montrose this round. While the defender couldn’t add to her two goal tally from last Sunday, she was a constant threat to Falkirk down the left. Taylor provided an incredible 26 crosses, 18 more than any other player this round, as well as having three shots, boasting an 86% dribbling success rate, and winning 81% of her duels. It’s a blistering start to the 2026/27 campaign for Taylor as Montrose look to build on their most successful season ever.

Defender – Chelsie Watson (Motherwell)

Motherwell bounced back from defeat against Montrose with a thumping 7-1 win away to Livingston. With goal difference potentially a factor in the final standings, the Women of Steel took no prisoners against their SWPL 2 opponents. While Watson will have been disappointed to have conceded, she was a rock at the back who successfully completed 91% of her 124 actions. That included three shots on target, a 96% passing success rate, 86% duels won, four interceptions, and 21 recoveries compared to just five losses. Motherwell will now look for maximum points in an effort to secure a guaranteed place in the next round.

Midfielder – Skye Stout (Kilmarnock)

Kilmarnock made it two wins from two in the Sky Sports Cup with a 2-1 victory at home to Dundee United. Killie will be disappointed not to have won the game by a few more goals having had nine shots on target compared to United’s two, but they got the all important three points. Stout was particularly unlucky not to score more, grabbing the opener before hitting the crossbar and the post in the following ten minutes. She had a total of eight shots (four in the target), boasted an 83% passing accuracy rate, an 100% crossing success rate, and had 10 dribbles in the match as she terrorised United’s defence. Killie travel away to Falkirk tonight (19:30 KO) where a draw or win will see them into at least the knockout play-offs.

Midfielder – Izzy Young (Spartans)

Spartans put the disappointment of having their game against Queen’s Park awarded to their opponents by bouncing back with a 2-0 win over Boroughmuir Thistle. An early goal by Lauren McDonald followed up by Natalie Bandura slotting home their second was enough to defeat their Edinburgh rivals. Young earns her place after providing the assist for Bandura as well as being a constant threat in attack, something Spartans fans will be used to after last season. Spartans are at home to Renfrew tonight (19:45 KO) with their final match a tricky away tie against fellow SWPL side Aberdeen on Sunday (13:00 KO).

Midfielder – Lucy Livie (St Johnstone)

After scoring four goals against SWPL opposition, it’s only right to see an outfield player included from St Johnstone. Livie is selected as the winger got their opening goal with a looping finish following a corner before going on to have a further two shots. She also boasted a 100% crossing accuracy and dribbling success rate, and won 56% of her duels. The Saints face Montrose tonight (20:00 KO) before travelling to follow SWPL 2 side Renfrew on Sunday (13:00 KO).

Forward – Isla Gourley (Gartcairn)

Gartcairn made it back-to-back wins to start their 2026/27 season, boosting their chances of automatically reaching the next round of the cup and perhaps their odds of challenging for the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League 2 title. The MTC Park side defeated Queen’s Park 3-1, holding on for victory despite being down to 10 players and conceding a goal to make it 2-1 with 10 minutes left of normal time. Gourley is included as she was selected as Gartcairn’s player of the match, getting their second goal, having a further shot on target, and boasting an 81% passing and 67% dribbling success rate. Gartcairn will look to maintain their fine start when they travel to Motherwell tonight (19:45 KO).

Forward – Alex Davie (Hamilton Academical)

Things are looking very positive at New Douglas Park as Accies put a somewhat miserable 2025/26 behind them. Robert Watson’s side have now won their opening two games this season, including an 8-0 thumping of newly promoted Renfrew on Sunday. Davie is included after scoring twice and getting an assist from 63 minutes played. She also provided four crosses, won 58% of her duels, and 100% of her aerial duels. Hamilton know a draw or win tonight (19:45 KO) against Livingston will see them into at least the knockout play-offs.

Forward & Star Player – Carla Boyce (Motherwell)

While Watson was having an outstanding game at the back, Boyce was at the other end bagging goals for fun as she earns star player this week. Their striker scored four goals and got one assist as they brushed aside Livingston to get their first win of the season. Boyce supplemented her five goal contributions with 12 shots (nine on target) and an 81% passing accuracy rate. The Women of Steel face Gartcairn tonight (19:45 KO) and Kilmarnock on Sunday (13:00 KO).
