Team of the Week from ScottishPower Women’s Premier League games played on 12th October.
————————
Goalkeeper – Jenni Currie (Partick Thistle)
It wasn’t to be for Partick Thistle on Sunday, suffering a 2-0 defeat to league leaders Glasgow City. It could have been, and would have been, a higher scoreline if not for Currie and her defenders. The goalkeeper faced 13 shots, saving 11, including a penalty, and achieved 100% accuracy in short passing and a respectable 73% accuracy for long passes. The Jags ‘keeper made the most saves in the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League for this round and well earns her place.

Defender – Eilidh Martin (Kilmarnock)
Kilmarnock remain top of ScottishPower Women’s Premier League 2, now two points clear of Spartans after their 4-1 win at home to Queen’s Park. While they couldn’t keep the Spiders at bay completely, they did keep the second-highest scoring side in the league quiet with just one goal. Martin played her part at the back, but also contributed going forward. She provided the assist for Taylor McGlashan’s headed goal, later rounding off the game with an interception before a fine finish from just outside the box.
Defender – Claire Walsh (Celtic)
It’s not often you can include a defender after conceding an own-goal, but Walsh deserves her place after a fantastic performance. The central defender provided two assists in Celtic’s 7-1 victory over Motherwell, both accurate long passes forward. She was also involved in an incredible 140 actions throughout the match, successfully completing 86% of them, which included seven duels won, 10 recoveries, and 109 accurate passes (86% successful).
Defender – Jade Wilson (Gartcairn)
Both Spartans and Gartcairn couldn’t find the net on Sunday, with credit to both sides for providing a rare 0-0 in the whole SWPL. Defenders from both sides could have been included, but Wilson edges it with a strong performance in the heart of the Gartcairn defence. She won 75% of her duels, made nine interceptions, 21 recoveries, and boasted a solid passing accuracy of 74%. It’s not the result either side would have wanted, but it keeps both towards the top of ScottishPower Women’s Premier League 2.
Defender – Elizabeth Corke (East Fife)
East Fife picked up their first point of the 2025/26 campaign, a late equaliser at home to Livingston. The result moves them above Stirling University, who are rock bottom, and also keeps them just four points behind their opponents and guaranteed safety. Livingston certainly tested East Fife on Sunday, scoring twice and forcing eight saves, but Corke and her teammates earned a hard-fought draw. The defender is included after scoring the dramatic late equaliser, as well as a further shot on target, 77% duels won, 100% aerial duels won, and five interceptions.
Defender – Nicola Jameison (Dundee United)
The 0-0 scoreline for the 2025/26 campaign was doubled on Sunday in ScottishPower Women’s Premier League 2, happening only twice before this weekend in the previous six rounds. Dundee United and Boroughmuir Thistle were also goal-shy as both sides had to settle for a point. While it’s not a game that either side will shout about, Jameison was solid yet again for the Tangerines as she helped her side to their third clean sheet this season.

Midfielder – Elvie McLean (St Johnstone)
The Saints bounced back from their heavy defeat to Rangers in the Sky Sports Cup in phenomenal fashion, as they inflicted a 7-1 loss on Stirling University. Elvie McLean had a significant role to play, scoring twice for the away side as well as providing an assist. With a 79% passing accuracy, four successful dribbles, and the majority of her duels won, it was a very effective 66-minute performance from the midfielder.
Midfielder – Emily Whelan (Glasgow City)
While Currie earns her place for Thistle in goals, Whelan is arguably the reason she didn’t get her clean sheet. Proving formidable in a wider role for City, she got both assists as they eventually prevailed 2-0. If it wasn’t for good defending and goalkeeping, Whelan could have had more, as she made an incredible nine crosses, as well as having 88% dribbling and 76% passing success. She was also solid defensively, winning 63% of her duels, making four interceptions, and 12 recoveries.

Forward – Amy Black (Aberdeen)
Playing up front for the second game in a row, moving Black forward has paid off for Scott Booth and Aberdeen, as she got more goals on Sunday. She scored twice in their 5-0 win over Hamilton Academical, both finishes showcasing her eye for goal. Her second of the match displayed the strength she has shown in previous defensive roles, and she could now become a constant problem for ScottishPower Women’s Premier League defenders. This could be one of the most unexpected success stories of the 2025/26 season.
Forward – Eilidh Adams (Hibernian)
Fighting from 2-0 down, reigning champions Hibs showed their title credentials to eventually win 3-2 against Rangers. Adams played a vital role for the Hibees, reading a long ball forward well before providing the assist for the equaliser and then finding the winner with a tidy finish after excellent work from Tegan Bowie. Hibs remain just two and five points behind Celtic and Glasgow City, respectively, after eight games. The title race looks just as fascinating as ever before in the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League.
Forward & Star Player – Bayley Hutchison (Hearts)
Goals and Hutchison are somewhat synonymous in the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League, with the forward grabbing a hat-trick in Hearts’ 7-0 win against Montrose on Sunday. The striker also had 13 shots on Sunday with eight on target, the highest number of any player for this round of matches. Surprisingly, these are her first goals of the 2025/26 campaign, but the Jambos will be hoping these are the first of many for the rest of the season.
