Team of the Week from ScottishPower Women’s Premier League games played on 24th May.

————————

Goalkeeper – Jenni Currie (Partick Thistle)

Partick Thistle ended their 2025/26 campaign with a hardfought draw away to Celtic. Since the split in the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League, Gary Holt’s side have picked up just two points, showcasing the brutal nature of life in the top-six. Currie, who has been the busiest goalkeeper since the split, played a vital part in their win with some fantastic saves at New Douglas Park. The ‘keeper made four saves with a solid 75% of passes accurate both from goal kicks and short passes. With making the top-six the ultimate goal for the Jags, they’ll hope to do the same again next season or even break into the top five.

Defender – Lisa Evans (Glasgow City)

One of four Glasgow City players included from Sunday’s 6-0 rout of Rangers, Evans got the most assists of any player on the final day of the season. The right-back got three assists, all from dangerous crosses which were well finished by her teammates, including a stunning volley by Hayley Lauder. The defender also got a clean sheet as she won the majority of her duels and made three interceptions. Leanne Ross will be hoping for more in the 2026/27 season.

Defender – Scarlett Herron (Hibernian)

Hibernian were hoping to spoil the title party of their Edinburgh rivals on Sunday, and they did everything they could to deny Hearts. In the end though, Rangers’ loss to Glasgow City meant Hibs’ 2-0 win didn’t impact the league table and left Joelle Murray’s side unable to catch City above them. Herron was voted player of the match for Hibs as she denied the Jambos a goal. She also won 64% of all her duels, made more recoveries than losses, and registered the joint second highest number of interceptions this round (11).

Defender – Lana Golob (Glasgow City)

Even though she was only on the pitch for 55 minutes, the Slovenian deserves her place for her performance at the back. The central defender not only contributed towards the clean sheet, she also opened the floodgates for City with a thundering header to open the scoring at Petershill Park. While on the pitch she had an incredible 94% passing accuracy rate, won 75% of her duels, and three interceptions.

Midfielder – Summer Thomson (Queen’s Park)

Queen’s Park are now just one more win away from an immediate bounce back to the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League. The Spiders defeated Boroughmuir Thistle 1-0 midweek before coming away against Kilmarnock with a win by the same scoreline. Despite being the away side in both matches, they’ve extended their winning run to five games in a row. Thomson, who was awarded the clubs’ top goalscorer award, got another vital goal in their win at Meadowbank against Boroughmuir Thistle. She’ll hope to add more to her tally when Queen’s Park face Aberdeen at the Albert Barlett Stadium on Friday (19:35 KO).

Midfielder – Poppy Pritchard (Celtic)

Celtic’s season ended on a whimper on Sunday as they failed to beat Partick Thistle for the fourth and final time. It’s been a post-split season to forget for Grant Scott’s side as they got just one win post-split against the Jags and suffered five losses. Pritchard epitomised Celtic on Sunday as she threatened throughout the 90 minutes, but couldn’t find an all important goal or assist. With five shots, an 87% passing accuracy, and the highest number of touches in the penalty area of all players this round (12), there was certainly no lack of trying from the English midfielder. Scott will be looking for vast improvements heading into the 2026/27 season.

Midfielder – Hayley Lauder (Glasgow City)

The penultimate player included from City is Lauder, despite only featuring for 48 minutes. The midfielder scored a beautiful volley from an Evans cross, giving Jenna Fife no change in the Rangers goal, as well as providing an assist from a corner. She also boasted a solid 71% passing accuracy rate, won 71% of her duels, and made almost the same number of recoveries as losses.

Midfielder – Rosie McQuillan (Queen’s Park)

While it was Thomson that got the vital goal against Boroughmuir Thistle, McQuillan provided the finish that booked Queen’s Park’s place in the SWPL Play-off Final. It was a clever dink early into extra-time that was enough for the Spiders, making it back-to-back victories over Kilmarnock. Ross Stormonth will hope to end May in style, making it six wins from six and bouncing straight back to the top division.

Forward – Imogen Longcake (Partick Thistle)

While Currie was helping keep Celtic at bay at one end, Longcake was testing the Hoops at the other. The English forward got the equaliser with a well timed run and calm finish, eventually earning her side their second point post-split. She also had a solid 77% passing accuracy rate, had a 100% dribbling success rate, won 50% of her duels as a forward, and made three key passes. An excellent performance on the final day of the season.

Forward – Eilidh Adams (Hibernian)

While some teams faltered under the pressure of the top-six in the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League, Hibernian showed why they were the reigning champions in the last 10 games of the season. Joelle Murray’s side only lost once and won six games, form that would have seen them competing for the title had they kept it up all season. Adams goals were crucial once again this season. She opened the scoring from the penalty spot on Sunday, before being in a dangerous place to force an own goal. Hibs will be desperate to hold on to her for the 2026/27 campaign.

Forward & Star Player – Lisa Forrest (Glasgow City)

The last player in the 2025/26 team of the week, and it’s a hat-trick hero in the form of Forrest. While Evans got a hat-trick of assists, Forrest was finding the net as she put Rangers to the sword again after her Sky Sports Cup heroics. The young forward had a further two shots on target, had an 83% dribbling success rate, and won 62% of her duels. Another striker that her team will be desperate to keep hold of next season.
